Trusting His Guidance

Revelation 3:8 “I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”

I used to cycle off-road in England along a disused railway line that had been re-purposed as a recreational trail. A few miles into the route there was a tunnel. It took a few minutes to ride through this tunnel that was slightly curved in shape. This curve meant that a portion of the trail, in the middle of the tunnel was shielded from the outside light at both ends. The darkness lasted only a short time but for a moment I needed to ride in ‘pitch black’ trusting that I was going in the right direction. Eventually, the darkness would lessen.  As I progressed forward I would be out into the light again.

In ministry and life, I have encountered similar seasons. For many of us, what we encountered in 2020 has been one of those seasons. There were periods of enduring challenges and times when I was not sure if I was going in the right direction. I was following the last leading sense I had from God, but in that moment it seemed far behind me. Can you relate?

When I trust in Jesus, the door of destiny that He has opened for me cannot be shut! It’s tempting at times to doubt in the dark what God has showed us in the light. Many leaders in the Bible such as Joseph, Moses, David, Paul and others encountered dark times on their journey to the incredible purpose God had for them. If I keep on travelling in the direction He has sent me, trusting in His guidance, He will bring me safely through the door of opportunity to the destiny He has for me.

I pray that we would have a supernatural gift of endurance and trust in Him when times are unsure and unsettling. He is faithful to bring us through, He will do it, just keep going!
